The 7 piece collection includes a varied selection such as ammonite, belemnite, gryphaea- 'Devil's Toenail', coral and crinoid stars. Packaged beautifully in a display box.
Ammonites or snakestones as they're know in common folklore, were once believed to be the devil's snakes that had been turned to stone by prayer or saints. Today we know they're actually extinct cephlapods that swam the seas at the same time as dinosaurs roamed the land, and died out at the same time as most of the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. When preserved in pyrite 'Fool's Gold' they've also been called 'Fairy Coins'. They are believed to hold great power defined by their circular energy, and bring good luck and a strong will to those who hold them.
Belemnites, another extinct squid-like sea creature from the Mesozoic have long since been associated with thunder and were often called thunderbolts or thunderstones and were thought to fall from the sky during lightning storms. Also known as knome candles and elf bolts, they were believed to be the arrowheads of pixies.
Gryphaea more commonly known as the Devil's Toenails when found in farmers crop fields were considered the toenail clippings of the devil, and were a sign of a poor harvest to come. Reputed as a healing stone, good for diseases of the joints and back pain.
Fossilised Coral thought to hold grounding energy, that in the spell of its wearer’s life brings change for good, and protect the holder against evil spirits.
Crinoids have also been known as Star Stones, so called because of their pentagonal shaped columnals. Star Stones were thought to have come to earth from the heavens, and are regarded to help overcome depression.
